Exclusive Interview: MAX

His upcoming tour is a MUST SEE this fall!

It has been particularly awesome to see MAX grow over the last year or so. The Feed The Beat crew loved his YouTube covers from the start, and thought his original songs were something to remember. Earlier in 2015, we asked him to play Taco Bell's Fan Army Nominee Celebration, and when he announced he'd be releasing albums with the crew at DCD2 records we did our own celebratory dance about it - plus, how cool is it that he's out on the road with Fall Out Boy and Wiz Khalifa right now?!. So of course we HAD to chat with MAX when we found out he'd be heading out on his own headlining tour this fall! Read on, and check out the video announcement for the SOUNDS LIKE GIBBERISH TOUR and the tour dates below!

You're currently out on tour with some big artists - and big influences - on the Boys of Zummer Tour (Fall Out Boy, Wiz Khalifa). What has been the coolest part of the tour so far? Honestly, everyday is surreal. Getting to perform for 10-20 thousand people a night with two of my favorite acts ever and also my dude Hoodie Allen who's on my single Gibberish is incredible. I like to say besides the shows my favorite part is the backstage environment. It's quite the circus - lots of different smells and things going on!

With being out on the road for a huge part of the summer, what are your "tour must haves" going to be? Anything you can't travel without? I have a good amount, haha. I always bring my own extra pillow for the bus. Naps on naps on naps. I have my tea and throat lozenges that are always by my side and my coffee. Need the coffee!

Are there any cities in particular you're visiting for the first time that you've fallen in love with? Any places you're looking forward to seeing again? Every city has been really unique which is awesome. Can't wait to go back to places like Bangor Maine & North Carolina. I just love shows where people are down to just let loose and give no F's.

Your latest single "Gibberish" is awesome! How does it feel playing it for a whole bunch of different audiences? It's awesome. I love getting to perform it live every night with Hoodie. There's nothing like getting that energy from the crowd and just seeing how they feel and react when we start playing it.

"Gibberish" seems to have a lot of different influences in its sound, and anyone who has visited your YouTube page can tell that you pull from a lot of different artists and genres. Are there any musicians in particular that you feel influence you? I definitely am inspired by a lot of different artists. I love Prince, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Billie Joel, Marvin Gaye, Etta James, Pharrell Williams - who I got to recently work with on my album, which was incredible.

Once the Boys of Zummer tour wraps up, what's next? Are there more shows this year for us to look forward to? Absolutely! I'll be headlining my own US fall tour which I'm so stoked for! Got about 20 dates across the country on that. You can check out the dates on http://saymaxohhh.com/ (Ed. Note - we've also listed them below for your viewing pleasure!)

How about new music? Are there any new releases coming soon? Yes indeed! Finishing up my upcoming album which I'm so excited to share. Like I said, I got to work with amazing people like Pharrell Williams, Travie McCoy, Hoodie Allen, and a bunch more on it.

If there was one thing you wanted your fans to walk away with after seeing you perform, what would it be? I would want to feel energized. Feel the utmost present. If I can make someone forgot their lives outside of the show and feel truly alive after a performance of mine then I'm happy. That's always goal to make my people feel awesome.

We're with ya on that one, MAX. Don't miss him when he's out on tour this fall - and hopefully, we'll be sharing news about his debut album soon!
