About the Artist
Walker Lukens' soulful, emotive tenor and alt-pop songwriting have prompted comparisons to everyone from Harry Nilsson to Tom Waits and Pavement. After fronting other bands, the Austin, Texas-based Lukens released Year of the Dog EP and the full length, Devoted, in 2013. They received unanimous praise from outlets like NPR's All Songs Considered, American Songwriter, Austin American Statesman, Austin Chronicle, HoustonChronicle, and Billboard. A formidable live unit, Walker Lukens and his backing band, The Side Arms, have gained a reputation for their sweaty, stage-shaking shows. On October 14th, they are releasing the Never Understood EP on Modern Outsider records. It was produced by Jim Eno of Spoon.
