The band's brand new apocalypse-banger featured in Taco Bell’s “The Hang” commercial
Long time Taco Bell and Feed The Beat friends, Portugal. The Man teased the hook of their new single “Dummy” in the latest Taco Bell commercial, which made fans’ mouths water just as much as the food it was showcasing. Talk about a combo, right?
For anyone who isn’t up to speed on Portugal. The Man, they're the Grammy-winning band behind 2017’s smash hit “Feel It Still” which amassed over a billion streams on Spotify alone. Over the past decade, the band has established themselves as one of rock’s most prized possessions and a live phenomenon, with over 1,600 shows under their belts and a storied reputation as festival favorites.
On the catchy, and brilliant new song Portugal. The Man's lead singer John Gourley said:
“Worried about the impending nuclear war? 'Dummy' is an ode to The Cure. For all those hopeless doomers out there waxing poetic on the end times while dancing to 'Boys Don’t Cry'. All my troubles seem so far away. Thank you for waiting, it feels good to be back!”
When the commercial dropped, some fans were quick to realize that this was the highly anticipated new song soon to be released by the Alaskan rockers, and took to social media to theorize about when the song would be dropping. Soon their questions (and prayers) would be answered – “Dummy” dropped on 3/1 and can be heared on all streaming platforms.
